Fitter

We are hiring for a Fitter to join a leading engineering firm at their site based in Stockport.

This role offers a diverse and varied opportunity for a Skilled Fitter to work on unique jigs and fixtures, ranging from small bench tools to large jigs up to 60 metres long.

• £17.14 per hour
• 35 hour week
• Overtime available (paid at enhanced rate)

What will you be doing as a Fitter?

• Assembling, adjusting, and modifying jigs and fixtures
• Using hand tools (drills, grinders, files, measuring equipment) and machinery (saws, pillar drills, milling machines, surface grinders)
• Diagnosing problems and finding solutions
• Working within health and safety guidelines
• Performing FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) to customer specifications
• Occasionally working offsite, potentially worldwide

What do you need?

• Time-served as an engineer
• The ability to read and understand mechanical drawings
• Knowledge of assembling equipment and checking parts for accuracy and fit
• Experience with metal fabricated structures
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems (advantageous)
