Are you knowledgeable of production processes and would be interested in joining a well-known manufacturer in Tameside?

We’re hiring for an experienced Machine Operator to join a reputable manufacturer in Stalybridge who supply their products to a variety of industries across the globe.

Due to recent growth, they require an experience Machine Operator to help assist with production demands. Working initially on a continuous day shift, once trained you will be expected to work rotating day and night shifts which may also require working occasional weekends, so a flexible approach to work is essential.

Joining a close-knit team, you will be responsible for one area of the production process, ensuring machinery is operating accordingly and keeping up with production demands.

What’s on offer?

  • £8.21 p/h (first 40 hours) £10.26 p/h (after 40 hours) – rising after probation
  • Hours: Monday – Thursday 6.30am – 6.30pm (48 hours per week)
  • Overtime often available as production runs 7 days a week
  • Shift work after probationary period (rotating day and night shifts)

What will you be doing as a Machine Operator?

  • Setting-up, operating and troubleshooting machinery and weighing / mixing materials according to the production order
  • Carrying out quality checks to ensure high-quality standards are met at all times and reporting any quality issues to management
  • Maintaining a good standard of housekeeping and organisation within your working area
  • Closely monitoring machines to ensure materials are properly mixed and operating accordingly

What do you need?

  • Previous experience operating machinery in a production environment
  • A flexible approach to work, as weekend work may be required
  • The ability to frequently lift / move up to 15Kg and occasionally lift / move 25Kg
  • Basic Mathematical skills, including units of measure
  • Good work ethic, reliability and an honest approach

What’s nice to have?

  • A background in plastics or chemical manufacturing
  • Forklift licence / experience operating a FLT
