Machine Operator

We’re currently hiring for a Machine Operator to join a worldwide manufacturing company based in Droylsden, Tameside. With 10 sites across the globe, they are recognised in the industry due to their innovation and bespoke high-quality products. You’ll be working in the Machine Shop department reporting back to the Machine Shop Manager aiding with the manufacturing operations.

What will you be doing as a Machine Operator?

  • Programming, setting and operating machinery
  • Setting and operating mechanical engravers
  • Setting and operating manual milling machine/lathe/saws, etc
  • TIG welding and brazing
  • Part finishing and packing
  • Production and inspection of components to standards and to drawing
  • Preparing of materials for machining, deburring and cleaning of work area
  • Maintaining equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements detailed by Production Engineering, following manufacturer’s instructions
  • Controlling the raw material stock
  • Producing components to an agreed schedule of work orders, to the machine parameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)

 

What do you need?

  • A good understanding of mechanical processes and practices
  • Experience using manual machine tools
  • Basic IT skills (Excel, Outlook)
  • The ability to read and understand drawings
  • Good attention to detail

 

What’s nice to have?

  • Experience using Epicor
  • Experience of TIG welding/brazing
  • Experience of EDM
  • Experience of laser operation
  • Experience working in a machine shop / workshop environment
