Mechanical Design Engineer

We’re hiring for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a skilled and experienced workforce at an ultra-modern manufacturing facility based in Stockport. With more than a century of engineering experience under their belt they have long been a pioneer of innovation, and with employees being at the heart of their business. You’ll be responsible for the delivery of Engineering projects as well and ensure technical performance standards are maintained.

What’s on offer?

• £42,000 – £45,000 per annum
• Monday – Thursday 7:45 am – 4:15 pm / Friday 12:45 pm finish (37 hours per week)

What will you be doing as a Mechanical Design Engineer?

• Developing design solutions working in conjunction with designers within the team
• Checking drawings and preparing technical documents such as specifications, reports, and manuals
• Undertaking hardware development and testing
• Compiling technical documents and test specifications
• Liaising with suppliers and acting as a representative for the company
• Providing support for the production, test, and field engineering teams
• Supporting the sales team with bids and quotations

What do you need?

• 5+ years of experience in design, testing and development of mechanical systems
• Medium to heavy engineering experience
• Understanding of the behaviour of large welded and bolted mechanical structures
• Proven experience in the design of systems from original concept design, produced from a specification, through to production in a Lead role
• Excellent IT skills (MS package and analysis tools)
• Hands-on 3D CAD design expertise
• Highly organised and methodical approach
