Production Operative

We’re hiring for a Production Operative to join a specialist textile manufacturer based in Stockport to assist with assembling goods, or operating cutting machines to cut fabrics as per customer orders. Joining the team initially on a full-time ongoing contract, this well-established manufacturer are experiencing a big increase in sales and this position is highly likely to lead to a permanent contract.

• Pay rate: £9.50 p/h – rising after probation
• Hours of work: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday – Thursday / 8:00am – 12:00pm Friday

What will you be doing as a Production Operative?

• Measuring and assembling goods using hand tools
• Operating cutting machines to cut rolls of fabric down to specification ensuring quality is maintained throughout
• Cutting fabrics to required sizes and feeding them through the machines
• Packing finished goods ready for dispatch
• Conducting daily quality checks and reporting any faults or quality issues up through the chain of command

What do you need?

• Previous experience in a busy production environment is preferred
• Physical fitness as you will be carrying out manual tasks
• Experience with hand tools advantageous
• The ability to use your initiative and organise your workload
• A keen eye for detail is essential
• Good numeracy skills are required as you will be required to take several measurements

What’s nice to have?

• Previous experience working with textiles / materials
