We’re hiring for a MIG Welder to join an engineering firm based in Hazel Grove, Stockport. The successful applicant will mainly undertake the fabrication of steel support structures and lifting systems.
What’s on offer?
- £14 – £16 per hour
- Good overtime rates
- Monday -Thursday 8:30am – 5pm / early finish Friday
What will you be doing as a MIG Welder?
- Reading engineering drawings and using jigs to tack and weld components onto steel structures
- Using power tools required (Grinders/ Bandsaws, overhead cranes) to assist with the fabrication of framework
- Assembling systems and carrying out spray painting tasks where required
- Carrying out site installations on large projects
What do you need?
- Qualification in fabricator or similar
- Experience in MIG welding with steel
- Must be used to working in a busy workshop environment
- Must be competent and proficient in all steelwork fabrication processes understand technical drawing, marking out, grinding, drilling, cutting etc
- Full UK driving licence
- Forklift truck licence would be an advantage
- IPAF (training course provided if not)
- Must be able to work unsupervised using own initiative or as part of a team

In my opinion the KPJ Group is a unique group of people. I would like to mention one person, Kirsty Willocks. Kirsty is one of the consultants working at the KPJ Group in Glossop. I had a serious problem finding a job near my home, as well as bad experience with many recruiting agencies, that did not pay on time or found work far from my home or promised work and then called at the last minute and cancelled shift. I don't own a car and that's why I was looking for a job closer to my home and family. I must say that I was extremely lucky to meet Kirsty, who helped me find a job within a few days, 15 minutes on foot from home, as well as work in a company where people respects people and the atmosphere in this company is fantastic. Kirsty is a sincerely committed consultant and approaches the problem with full responsibility. From my experience, greediest agency ever. They took £23.00 from me for making out one pay slip. They took £19.00 from me for 'work finding commission', which I never agreed to, and in fact I never commissioned them to do anything. They just want to take as much from you as possible.
